HEALTH & COMMUNITY OUTREACH

Health Fair:

Health care professionals come together for screenings and check-ups of community members. Workshops are held to teach nutrition and healthy options.

Let’s Move:

New initiative being brought to CDC through First Lady Michelle Obama’s nutrition and fitness campaign.

Holiday Extravaganza:

This Community Carnival experience allows hundreds of children the opportunity to play and receive a gift from Santa. Community vendors are also able to share products with the thousands in attendance.

Harvest Festival:

This bazaar gives parents a safe environment to allow their kids to receive treats & fun during the Halloween season. Features costume contest, interactive games, and arts and crafts.

In the Community:

Monthly feeding, clothing and visiting of homeless and/or convalescent members

of community.

 

CREATIVE EXPRESSION

Children’s Dance Program:

Children in this program learn both basic and advanced skills and knowledge in dance.

Each 12-week session is culminated by a performance to boost students’ self-esteem

and stage presence.

Hope Youth Drama Consortium:

In this collaborative community effort, youth are taught stage presence and performance skills. Each 9-12 week session culminates with their dramatic presentation before a live audience

 

EDUCATIONAL SUPPORT

Mentoring & Tutoring:

Our educational support includes after school tutoring, computer labs, career counseling

and High School College Prep. Volunteers support students as mentors helping them navigate to success. Students are also invited to come into the CDC for special workshops and seminars held throughout the year.

 

ENTREPRENEURIAL WORKSHOPS HeBrews Cafe:

HOPE CDC offers hands on learning in

our on-site HeBrews Café. Students learn

the basics of starting, maintaining and growing a business through a variety of theoretical business concepts including bookkeeping, customer service and

finance, incorporated within a practical working business model.
